Our economy is based on continually finding new ways to make more money. So anything that has the possibility of appealing to a lot of people is immediately copied and sold for as high a profit as the market will bear. Innovation quickly becomes trendy, hip, and popular. It's sickening to see things twisted around like that, but at the same time it creates the need for continued innovation. If there wasn't something for us to rebel against then we'd never bother to do anything. The problem is that, to stay "hip", one has to continually change to whatever's considered cool by either the "hip" group, or the "outsiders" group. Either way, you're conforming to a group.
