| | | Is anyone in the Lunenburg county area? Ive lived in Bridgewater-New Germany area most. There are lots of things to see around here. Gold mines in North River, abandoned houses everywhere. There's an old box mill right in New Germany, If you ask the owner he will give you a tour, nice guy. Out towards the valley there are two sites that really interest me. 1. is the site where a plane crash occurred. In April 1944 a Mosquito air craft crashed in the woods towards the valley. The pilots were killed. There is a plaque dedicated to them and wreckage from the plane still litters the ground. There is a very large rock with rubber embedded in it... about 10-20 to the opposite side is a peice of landing gear with a shredded tire. My guess is this was the first impact. There are fuselage, landing gear, prop, and many mechanical parts laying around. No engines... they took those for investigation. 2. is a boat... located somewhere near the plane is a boat just sitting in the woods. Its completely intact and its my best guess it was a winch boat from the 30s or 40s. I was at both these sites but I cannot remember how to get back. If anyone has heard of these two sites or know where they are located. Let me know at [email protected] [last edit 4/8/2009 4:17 PM by canadianman000 - edited 1 times]

| | | My dad grew up in Petite! Most of my relatives are still down that way. Sorry, I hadn't heard about those locations before.
