Mines

Mine 1 - impressive!

Mine 2 and 3 plus ruins

In this state there are plenty of mines to explore. Exploration of abandoned mines isn't a good thing to do for even experienced explorers. Beginners can probably go see a tourist mine some where. I personally like mines mainly for the sense of history, and the ample abandoned buildings that come with them.

The trip out into the country took place on a week end. We knew of several possible things to explore on the way, and on the way back from the mines. The trip was plotted out on a map, the number of kilometers plotted out and fuel estimated. There was supposed to be 4 people going, but on the night before the trip two of them wimped out. So just 2 of us went.

Apart from the low numbers going, this trip is fairly typical of the occasional trip made out of the city. It involved an early morning start to beat the traffic. Soon we left the suburbs behind and were out on the highway. I pushed the car up to the speed limit of 100 Km/h (60 M/h). It was a hot summers' day, the sun beat down and had given me sunburn on my arms by the end of the day even though I wore sunscreen.

Speeding through suburbs, away from UA City

Overtaking slower traffic

Finally getting amongst the trees.

Look out for those deer and elk!
