I have frequently over the years driven by this building but never took the chance to stop, the same thing with the switching station in Lawrence.

After pulling up I noticed the city information sign and called in to see what the deal was, and was told that the area is used for road maintenance materials and the property was owned by the city.

It is a small place and was a quick visit as there is not all that much to see, but the history of the building itself was worth the stop just to look. I was amazed how well the building is holding up with how old it is. But since it is in use, I can imagine the city does do some repairs to keep it at least standing.

In my opinion the staircase it self is the coolest thing, amazing that it is still sturdy and usable after all these years exposed to the elements. In addition there is absolutely no graffiti that I could find.

I did notice that other than the doors, there is no wood left in this building. Historical pictures I have seen showed that these structures had wooden floors and counters. Though passenger waiting was outside under an awning of sorts.
