Solvay is under new ownership. Not sure if they've closed up the POE, but they seem to be okay with people coming on the ground if you give them a call first. If you drive south on 1st St. until just before the river, there's a sign on the east side of the road that says "solvay properties" "for entry please call:" and two phone numbers. Give it a try if you want to.
