Marola

My wife and I spent three years living in Italy. We were in a small town called Marola, just a bit outside the Vicenza city limits. There's pretty much nothing but farmland in the area. There are these big earthen mounds with trails on them that wind through all the fields. We're not really sure what they're for. Land dividers, flood barriers, aqueducts...who knows. Many people like to go for walks along them. The closest one in our neighborhood took us past an old abandoned farmhouse. It's a very typical sight in our region, and probably in a lot of the rest of the country as well.
