A lot of the photos I have of ruins include me, because as a model - I shoot on location in urban decay. I have never NOT shot in urban decay. so I am constantly sniffing out areas of decay to shoot in.
The duplex was a fun find and even more fun to explore. I have a weak spot for victorian homes sitting in decay. The duplex had to of been built in around 1910. The style and everything about this place suggested it. There was the first floor apartment, second floor apartment, and basement to explore. The basement was flooded in mud. Why? the duplex next to it (also abandonded, used as a hang out for junkies and teens) burned down one night. The force of the fire hoses and the heat from the fire broke out the basement windows and flooded the basement in mud knee deep in some places. The first floor apartment had a fridge in it - the photo used for this location was taken in that fridge. All over, through out both apartments was nice hard wood flooring, that just needed to be waxed and resealed. In the bathroom on the first floor, the floor was giving way, and I could see down into the basement. The brazz pipes had been stolen - and most likely sold off. The second floor was the nicest, it hard a hard front patio, and the kitchen was stocked with crystle dishes. I shot a few photos in through that hole I could see holes in the roofs, and hear the occassion stange sound. While standing alone on the second floor, waiting for the photgraphers to return - I could hear quiet a few strange sounds. Enough that I left the place, in fear until the photographers returned. Note: I caught ringworm from this location. There is a LOT of broken glass everywhere as well.
