First visit...

Have been scouting this loc for a while & the recent demolition of Casa Destruido and another favorite spot (of which I have no significant pics) spurred me into a visit today.

Thought it was a good sign when I pulled into the adjacent pay parking lot & the only empty space was waaay in the back, not 10 feet from the door! Thought it was a bad sign when I looked over & observed that the prevously open door was now securely closed & apparently locked, thusly preventing the nearby group of urban outdoorsman from partaking of their adult beverages in privacy. Thought it was a reeaally bad sign when I checked my rearview mirror & saw a cop car pull up behind me. And I hadn't even gotten out of the car yet! Fortunately I was able to busy myself w/checking my camera/gearbag & could only assume that 'move along' edicts were being presented & grudgingly responded to. So I figured I was just in for a close-up walkabout/inspection of the exterior & proceeded. As I was making my way back to the car, I observed a couple of skate punks 20 yards or so ahead of me -I think they caught my eye 'cause the three of us were the only white faces on the streets for blocks -they walk down the street...I walk down the street...they turn right...I turn right...they walk down the street...I walk down the street...they walk into the parking lot...I walk into the parking lot...they walk down to the back...I walk down to the back...they turn the corner, shoulder the door & go inside...

...I wait for a few minutes, get ready to draw my light, shoulder the door and I'm INSIDE! And it's pitch black and dead silent. The flashlight reveals a cavernous space, knee deep in rubbish & old clothes except for an apparently swept path leading further in. Looks like the whole bottom floor is free of walls but I can't see any doors except the one I came in through. Finally, back in the corner I spot a door...make my way to it and am confronted with a dark hallway...which leads, via another swept path, to stairs which lead to other floors & the roof. This place is a serious maze.

Never did see (or even hear) the skate punks but did open a door to find a neatly kept room replete with bed, bedside tables & dressers. Was too surprized to take a pic of it but will next time...must belong to the guy who sweeps the paths.
