My Trip

I arrived at Henryton via the train tracks and ran into a few people near the powerplant. We walked up the hill and came to a small house, probably the maintenance residence. We walked passed that and the large Henryton complex came into to view, surrounded by dense woods. The dense forest surrounding it helps to keep most of the undesirables away, preserving its integrity. I had been here once before at night so seeing it in daylight was enjoyable.

I made my way into the main building, noticing the asbestos warning signs posted on all of the doors. I entered into the laundry room and made my way up to the third floor. I had finished walking around there and was in the stairwell heading to the fourth floor when I heard footsteps. I froze, and after a few seconds I heard them getting closer. I went back down the stairs as quickly and quietly as I could, and right as I was about to walk out the door I heard footsteps on the glass outside. I quickly ducked under the stairwell and tried to breathe as quietly as possible. The footsteps got closer and I braced myself for the ominous "come out of there!" But that never came, as the individual walked away. After a few minutes I got the courage to check and walked out the door to find nobody. I breathed a sigh of relief and walked over to another building to explore.

It was then I ran into the people I had seen earlier and they informed me they had been walking around the parking lot outside the building, explaining the breaking glass. I then asked them if they had been on the fourth floor and they told me that they hadn't been into that building yet. I believe it was a squatter that I heard walking around, as I found evidence of their living quarters later on. So I continued exploring around and found all kinds of random stuff lying around. Phonebooks from 1983 were sitting next to a Orioles game schedule from 2000. This location had its share of broken windows but was otherwise in good condition. It looked like they are in the process of asbestos removal so I recommend every explorer should be extremely cautious. I saw fairly recent tire tracks in the mud near the buildings, so not sure how frequently it is patrolled. I eventually ran out of memory on my camera so I headed home. Overall it was a fun time.
