I've always asked that question too..
Many years ago when I used to go offroading (greenlaning) in my Jeep I would find appilances miles away from anything. Why would they choose this exact spot to dump?

Bacause a lot of municipalities charge to dispose of large appliances? I had to pay 70$ to properly "recycle 8 computer monitors". County wouldn't take them. Funny enough, the recycler that you must take them to and must pay a disposal fee to takes them and resells them if they are decent or pulls parts out of them for other monitors. Hell of a deal.

There are some really crooked recyclers round here. They charge you loads by bullshiting you, and then make a huge profit. When we were getting a loft conversion, we saw a family pay £50 to get rid of a bed frame. The next day we were there, he'd stripped off a bit of rust, and tryed to sell it to us for £200! We now know to mess up anything that he could possibly hope to sell.

We were in Spain...middle of a "desert- type" nowhere..We stopped for a picnic and just admiring the pristine scenery,I looked down in a ditch and there was matresses,a stove, car parts ..you name it,a hole household down there with no villages 100 km around.......!!

Idiot dumper experience: at Ravenspark Asylum, which is about 200 yards from a council refuse site (where you can dump for free), morons have instead decided to dump their rubbish on the asylum site.
