The tailing pile is actually a "waste pile", not just tailings. Here we are standing on actual tailings looking at the '60's era "second pit" which is where the village of Tahawus once stood, since relocated to Newcomb after NL discovered an untapped vein of Ilmenite. One hundred years before Ilmenite killed the Macyntire Mine. Ironic.

The foundation of the old YMCA is still nearby-- see if you can find it.
