As expected, I found bizarre things here. This alcove-like construct is lined with shelves. A concrete beam is cutting into the space. The taggers are too immersed in their adolescent hormones to know or care.

Could the alcove with shelves be a pantry?

It could. This room had the looks of a kitchen, and also had a door and stairs going down. But the shape is strange, and the room extends behind the concrete beam at the right edge of the photo. There's no space for a human between beam and wall, only for the shelves. And there's still a tiny window at the far end. Whoever designed this place was insane!
