  This confirms me that it's asbestos plaster all around the place: there is no insulated pipes here...

  yeah in quebec we put asbestos in everything. floor tiles, plaster, insulation, roof tiles, even concrete, the olympic stadium has asbestos in the concrete thats why it is covered in epoxy

Although, having said that, Crookston Castle School was made out of asbestos / concrete blocks but I think I heard they were imported on the cheap.
