After checking out the smelter, we parked in a strategic spot to do the beautiful NL mine itself. No problem except we were almost to the flotation plant when I noticed that Mr . Logging company decided to be at home today! Probably watching the Steelers game, but we decided it would be best to turn tail and beat feet, especially with only and hour of daylight left.
Instead we took the group photo next to the pit where the company village used to be.
To my right is my buddy Sierra, who is more interested in her Cherry Coke than the picture!
BTW if you guys would rather have faces instead of circles, I'll repost the original pic!
Then there's the resident dumbass who doesn't really mind having his face shown.
Good day. No NL mine , but it was fun to see the exuberance of a kid, it kind of left me inspired when I got home. Man she was interested in EVERYTHING. Look Dad , I found a toilet! Look Dad a stone! I'm kind of jaded about everything, so having the kid along was kind of refreshing.

If you ever get a chance stop in to the Town of Newcomb and visit the Supervisor, George Cannon. He has the most unbeliveable photo of NL on the wall, along with plenty of stories as both he and his father worked there. The town historian worked there as well and has a lot of tales to tell (Ginny)

Thank you, 'Dukes, for taking us - it was a great trip! And we don't mind our faces showing at all, so feel free to post the unedited version. We had an awesome time, and the little one still asks when we're going to go exploring with "that cool guy with the hat" again.

I've been there 4 times and am looking forward to going there again. Too bad they tore down the best buildings last year.

Skelly has maybe an hour of video and I have at least two hours of video... Mines still old school VHS, whereas Skelly put his on DVD.
