This is the top of a tire elevator used to lift tires from the lower floors up to this the top floor. They must have changed storage locations as not a tire was in site.

It comes up from the floors below. The wall behind it is the outside wall facing the downtown area.

actually from hanging around feed mills in my younger days, this may have been a bag elevator. Similar to a tire elevator, it lift the filled, screened and cleaned grain from the bagging floor up to a higher storage level in the building prior to shipment-idea being keep the grain dry and rodent free
