what an incredible building! I'm surprised more hasn't walked away from the site. The hand hewn beams are beautiful. I have a friend who buys old buildings that are going to be torn down, then dismantles them for the wood. People seem to really be into the hewn beams lately. Do you happen to know anything about the orgin of the community? I had thought that this style of mortise and tenon was mostly used in Dutch architecture, but the buildings don't seem to have their distinctive gables.

I just watched some indie film with this lady trying to get her parents to remove the newly installed vinyl siding and they eventually used old wood from a barn and dyed it blue I believe. It kind of looked like crap and they were trying to sell it. Sorry, forgot the title.
