I have a friend who buys old buildings that are going to be torn down, then dismantles them for the wood. People seem to really be into the hewn beams lately. Do you happen to know anything about the orgin of the community? I had thought that this style of mortise and tenon was mostly used in Dutch architecture, but the buildings don't seem to have their distinctive gables.
