  No, not feeding. That would have contained plasma (sugar water) to be inserted through an IV

  Plasma is not "sugar water". You're thinking of D5W (potassium chloride in 5% dextrose), I think.

  Meh, that wasn't clear. D5W is used as a "delivery" for other meds and/or as a way to open a vein for future quick use. Plasma is a component of blood in which the red and white cells are suspended.
