Posted by rainman8889 8/20/2006 5:53 AM | remove   Most likely because it had deteriorated considerably and was in extremely bad shape. The buildings were showing their age by the 1980s and #8 & #23 were disconnected and boarded up. #23 had major problems but #8 was pretty solid. There was one house remaining on the far west side of the property (the others were demolished during the 70s) that was called the farmhouse (looked like one), that served as living quarters for the doctors and other staff (married I believe) who worked at the Psych. That one was abandoned but not boarded up and its utilities were still connected at the time.
