clearing some of this stuff out for the demolition must have been entertaining, or was it all trashed with the building?

actually, some stuff (furnitures) were auctionned off (and I now own a 1853 desk). Some stuff were given to people that liked the hotel (if you look closely, right in the middle/lower section of the top of the desk, tehre is a postcard of the hotel - tons of them on the floor in the entrance lobby). Although I must say this particular room was squatted so perhaps some of those pics were really own by someone. original ceiling fixtures went to the Shediac Museum, tin ceiling was removed and might (MIGHT) be used in the new cultural center they will build were the hotel once stood. but all the paper and other craps were probably just left there when they demolished. Most doors, windows and furnitures was sold for peanutes at an auction in April 2005. This desk included. My mother bid on it but won a white one instead.
