Dogs have a unique software design that in my opinion make them the best kind of pet.

Oh, and when I visited Barga in Tuscany the dogs were exactly the same... They escorted as around the village all day...
When one dog got tired and left us another would soon appear... As if they had a plan ?

it's true! and in Greece they do so even more! Athens is full of dogs, that follow you everywhere! Where i live there aren't so many left free to wander around, but where this chapel was there are only fields, so nobody can harm them (cars for example)

When I hike in Greece, the ubiquitous dogs usually try to attack me at first (the territorial bastards). When they see I'm neither daunted (walk softly and carry a big walking stick) nor bent on taking their property, they either ignore me or follow me around for a few hours.

That's a quirk of their automated defense targeting system. Highly advanced.

The same dog followed our group on two trips trough Athens, the trips being a year apart.
And a dog once protected my sister and a few of her friends on a dropping and a walk past a house wich later appeared to be the house of a serial killer...

I love Italy so much. I lived in Florence for a year and went to school in a hilltown called Settignano, where there were Etruscan tombs and old chapels like this one. I wish I had pictures, but it was back in 3rd grade. Sure brings back the memories though...nice pics.
