  these windows are too dirty and dark for a residential building. The inside would look like a mortuary with those windows!

  they will probably install wood or aluminum reproductions of these. I was looking at some other condo projects around montreal and thats what they do. The windows may be in good shape but energy efficiency comes into play. Rich people dont like drafts BRRRR

  those windows and sash work are the original one, with one or two coat of paint max. I don't think they will leave it there even repainted. Not because the are too dark: cleaned they would be ok. but because those old wooden industrial windows are only good enough when you have plenty of heating in the winter and that you don't pay for it... not in a loft.
