Description
This thing seemed way too high tech in comparison of the rest of the building. What could this have measured?

This is a chart recorder. The disc rotates, and the markers record data points. Each chart represents one unit of time, usually a day. This probably measured temperature, or humidity, or something inane like that.

Makes sense. Could have measured temperature where they stored tanned hides or something.

Couldn't a computer do the same thing?

yes, but i have a feeling that this company was on the skids long enough where updating their process monitoring equipment was not in the budget.

Aww, that makes sense. I always forget that having new technology available doesn't always mean the company is able to afford it. Still gotta appreciate the engineering and design work put into this device.
