Description
This image shows the way they had used a coffer dam to make use of the Hudson river at this point. Originating in the high peaks at Lake Tear of the clouds, the Hudson can be stepped across in spots. Here the diorama shows the Mcnaughton Iron mine complete with stamping press.
Any of you who have seen the blast furnace here know that it is a testament to the ingenuity of man. Can you spot the furnace in this picture? It's concealed in a chimney building, dead center. Note the deforestation.
The gentlemen at the bottom of the furnace are engaged in making iron billets, which have been poured into molds. The hudson has been diverted here to power the smelters oven as well as the stamping machinery.
