They are acutally some sort of Siemens xray equipment. My Fuji digi is great but the flash is lacking in total blackness.

NL was experiementing with various processes to extract illimite/titanium dioxide/iron from the ores here. I have a dissertation written in the 1970's that explains it. The traditional method used the flotation process, which has since been replaced by a chemical process. Check out the Chronos website, it has a good schematic of how the new process works. Different ores would have been analized in this lab to determine the quality of the material and if the "good stuff" had been properly removed by the time processing was complete. That is why this was called "The Flotation Lab." X-ray or Gamma analysis would help with the analysis. Man I love this stuff-- just like a time capsule.
