The settlement of Colesbukta seen from a small pier. The building on the left is a storage building while the ones in the middle and right housed the workers. We slept in the small building in the middle.

The house where we stayed was originally abandoned in 1961, but restored in 1981 for Russian geologists. It was abandoned again in 1988.

Was it a rough night? I once slept in an abandoned hotel in a old western style logging village, worst sleep of my life.

It was a bit rough, largely because I was too lazy to take a sleeping bag and had just a fleece liner. I woke up with icicles hanging from my butt. Later I've spent many nights in the various cabins in Svalbard, always with proper gear, and it has never been an issue. My current sleeping bag has a comfort rating of -17 °C.
