That looks rather more familiar. What was the nearest cross-street on St. Catherine? I can't remember exactly where it was located....

It's still there. It's not demolished yet. Although there is almost nothing let of it. It is quite a security hazard now so demolition is coming up pretty soon I think...It's facing the big Astral Media building, two corners east of Atwater (yep, the beam structures in the background are the structural beams of the Forum...)

Thanks. I thought it looked familiar, but couldn't place it--haven't been down that way for 15-20 years now.

yeah i dont know about ownership now, but they bronfmans owned it in the 90s at one point, the interior was gutted after a structural collapse the east wall is completely gone and covered with sheet steel

Last I heard the City of Mtl was to put a lot of pressure on the Bronfmans to get something done about it. It really is an eyesore now. It's at the corner of Chomedey st.

but now the entire north side is gone down the crapper, all the way to the texan, aside from the harveys and the indian resto its really bad

come on, let's face it. It's way to late for this place. It's (litterally) already gone. It's an empty shell and even the shell is falling apart...

exactly, sadly as recently as 1995 it was savable :( notice the nice hyundai pony in the street! in the montreal forum book you can see the sign lit in the distance during the richard riot

Note that the Harvey's at the corner of Lambert Closse on this block has now closed. All that's left is the Indian restaurant. More than ever of a reason to do something with this place. Sad state of affairs.

yeah the building the greenbergs spent a ton on in 95 to fix up where astral tech used to be too was on this block its abandonned too now.
Posted by maZe 10/21/2004 4:20 PM | remove
it's abandonned??? I thought Astral fixed it all up and planned on USING it... mmmm.
Posted by nostra-YOUPPI! 10/21/2004 5:33 PM | remove
they used it but they when they sold the astral tech division they consolodated it all under one roof at mirabel, so the block from closse all the way past astral is boarded up even the "seville forum" laundromat

Posted by Finder 10/21/2004 7:00 PM | remove
And even the indian restaurant said they would pack up as well, if nothing is done.

This whole section of Ste. Cat is a pretty sad picture to see... looks like after a nuclear attack or something. Abandonned, unoccupied, falling apart. Sad, Sad, Sad...

if you want to see somthing happen write mr bronfman, he owns the seville and neighboring buildings, he said in a news conference a few years back he had hopes of revitalizing the area! ya right

city pressuring thats a funny one look at the york, the old convent in the east end, the bell center (because of the bell center being built windsor station lost its historic protection because its detached from the rails. jean talon station, the city bought it to make a community center. unless you want your kids drinkin at the SAQ, ok there is a community room in the loblaws but is it the same. The city is just as coupable look at the sculpture by riopel in le jardin la joute, it was commisioned for the olympic park its now been moved downtown, hochelaga needs all the art it can get. im ranting again

Ball and Montreal municipal council don't go together. Further more, I think NOT HAVING ANY BALLS is actually a criteria to get elected in Montreal...
Posted by nostra-YOUPPI! 10/23/2004 4:28 AM | remove
yeah exactly, ive seen too many balls dropped, and i dont mean testicles that didnt fall
Posted by ex-goose-villager 3/15/2005 4:56 AM | remove

It's funny how the Bronfmans can be responsible for this debacle and the beauty that is the CCA just a couple of blocks over, all at the same time.

What happened to audioterrorism.net anyway?
Posted by cjb 8/29/2007 3:50 AM | remove
it had problems with police and eventually closed. Many pictures were lost forever...
Posted by Blawkowski 8/29/2007 9:12 PM | remove
I had an account on audioterrorism.net. Does that mean I'm now filed at the police? ;-)
