This was one of the toilets on the site. The metal cone-shaped cage is a "Clwyd Cap" used around Cornwall to secure mineshafts and prevent people falling to their deaths. They are not very robust and I've seen ones that have fallen down the shaft due to collapses. The two tyres are the toilet seat. Underneath someone has dug out between the cap and the rim of the shaft so the waste would slide into the shaft. Pretty ingenious but scary considering the shaft is hundreds of feet deep.
