Description
I always liked this area where all the colored ducts come together. This is in the ground floor hallway in the 1910 part of the building. I spent a good amount of time in this general area - That little offshoot you see right beyond the yellow lockers on the left leads back to the art rooms, where I had at least one class every year and usually managed to find my way back down for something or other a few times every day. Very little artwork actually got done, mind you, but it was a good experience. Quite often we'd find ourselves in that little mini-hallway playing hackey sack. Mr. Kindinger, who belonged to the room through the door right next to the lockers on the right, got tired of telling us to stop mid-Junior year and settled for telling us to be quiet. A little further down the hall is Mrs. Bergreen's room, on the left. I had her Freshman year for Physical Science and Junior year for Biotech, which was basically an excuse to watch CSI in school. The door right across the hall belonged to a teacher I had for Geometry in Sophomore year. I don't remember his name but he looked like a chipmunk and liked to say "If you assume, you make an ass out of you and me" and always got quiet and looked around before he said 'ass' like someone was going to come along and fine him. One more thing - in this general mess of pipes, ducts and the like, during Junior year a friend of mine known as Zack Buddy twisted a random valve and ended up freezing and subsequently bursting a pipe which caused the school to have no heat the following Monday, allowing us to be sent home early. I never did thank him for that.

Those colored ducts are mind-blowing. It's too bad there will probably be nothing like that in the new building; if I were designing it, I would purposely add a modern version to the new plans.

Absolutely. I always loved the colored ducts on the first floor, they ran all throughout like that. And they put a lot of work in them too, They were painted before they were installed.

I've heard the new school is pretty character-less. =/

at first i thought it was just a painted ceiling til i noticed they were ducts. now thats how you design a beautiful high school!

If the building were built in 1910 it is very unlikely those ducts were designed in from the beginning. When built, the building probably had steam heat via radiators and the ducted forced-air system for heat and perhaps A/C was added during a later renovation. No matter what, the paint scheme on the ducts is cool!
