Description
The alley the leads behind the school. Central's playground that they never bothered to remove is behind that fence on the right. The smokestack all the way on the left belongs to the Vocational Building, where Agriculture classes and the like were had. Looking all the way down the alley, you see the prefabricated trailer building that housed Mr. 'Dirty Dirty G-Thack' Thacker's History and Mr. Nixon's Government classes. It's got a box truck parked in front of it in this picture. Looming behind that is the gymnasium and auditorium. On the other side of the Vocational Building, behind (to the left) of the prefab classrooms, used to be the Stadium to Bill Sauer Field. Notice the window A/C unit in the classroom in the foreground - Built in 1910, 1923, and 1953, this entire school complex was without central heat or A/C. The heat was OK regardless in the winter (Except for the times it broke down and got us sent home), but classes with window A/C units were the exception rather than the rule, and it got to be unbearably hot in the summer.
