This emplacment was one of a battery of four Six inch British Whitworth Armstrong (Model 1900) design guns emplaced in semi-circular walled structures (a casemate). The roof of this one has collapsed, but the gun is intact. The other three guns were removed by scrap dealers in the 1950s.
