That was IBM token-ring, either 4 or 16 megabit/sec. These connectors were hideous to work with. They were "sexless" which meant that there was only one type of connector that would "mate" with any other connector.

yeah they were hell, and the cards could be upwards of 250$ a lot of IBM point of sale systems are still using these
