It turns out that the wooden railing between the two RF towers and the main building has wires running through it.

  This might have been waveguide, but I think it was most probably Heliax LDF-50 or some other low-loss coax for the FM antenna. They would definitely have needed *something* in that conduit to get the FM signal out there, and LDF-50 and its clones is pretty much standard.

The only microwave stuff I saw was on the small tower attached to the building itself.
