It had just enough dirt to grow. The roots were still looking for more; you can't see them here but they had grown down the wall at least the length of the tree. Mindblowing.

Unless I miss my guess, isn't that a birch tree? And aren't they fairly slow-growing? Either way, that's one hearty survivor.
