If one of them turns on in 2010, I can get it to work, with a $1 adapter.

Wow! The TV collectors at AudioKarma.org would love to get their hands on those. The one on the left is an RCA New Vista from around 1968. <quote>If one of them turns on in 2010, I can get it to work, with a $1 adapter<quote> How?..

My guess is the top right would be from about 1972. Black plastic with chrome trim was popular back then. I had an RCA with black plastic with chrome trim from '72. The bottom one is older and has UHF, which was optional up until 1965 when the FCC required all TVs to have it. I'll guess its a higher end model from the early '60s...

Obviously they wouldn't work too well for OTA broadcasts, but you can get an RF signal out of and into most anything.

Yes, they would need a set top box. I got one + outdoor antenna...

Update! The RCA on the left is the First rectangle picture tube color TV RCA ever sold in 1966. A CTC-19. Very rare and very collectable. I'm the "Samurai" of old TV sets...

Well if you got satellite, or cable (with or without a set top box), then you will still be able to use these sets.

no, in 2009 all the signals will go from analog to digital and you'll have to get a converter.

That only applies to OTA (over the air) broadcasts, dear. Cable and satellite are not affected.

quote<Yeah I work in the cable industry and everyones freaking out about their ancient tvs.>quote. Well, we have had about 8 years warning. Did we freak-out when CDs replaced LPs?..

I've had my HD set for atleast 2 years now. I think the difference can be said that when LP's were phased out as the main stream outlet for music, they didn't just stop working.

I actually did that about 10 years back. At the end of a drunken night watching totally forgettable crap, I tied all my extension cords together and tossed the thing off my fourth floor balcony. Can't say that I've missed it since.

Though my father is an electronics whiz when the tv broke down one day they didn't watch tv for 3 years at my house. My dad is bad about taking forever to complete any project he starts. Luckily that was before my time and I never went without tv.
