I'm actually from Amherstburg. Got to say weird to see my hometown on here. I had no idea of this place existing. Then again there's many 8th concessions thanks to the amalgamation of the towns of Anderdon and Malden to the city limits.

After doing some of my own research. And to date, unsubstantiated. There apparently is a local legend that this house was the scene of a murder in the 1930's and then shortly afterward set on fire.

Sort of nearby is an old cemetery as well that is still somewhat active. According to chatter from a facebook group about the alleged hauntings of Texas Road.

I plead ignorance - what is an 8th concession?

  It's a road system. http://en.wikipedi...ki/Concession_road

In this case it's the 8th road northward from a baseline road. Which locally is old highway 18 or County Road 20 as it's now known as.

I think I need to get to Canada real quick and start poking around - these abandoned roads are screaming at me to come visit.

  Not a problem.

Also I've done a driveby of the property. It's just north of creek crossing, south of County Rd 10. Has a gated driveway, left wide open but posted no trespassing on the gate posts. Also becoming more tree covered.

Thank you! I'm DEFINITELY going to have to make a trip to Canada - so many cool properties to check out.
