Location DB > United States > California > Marin County > Fort Cronkhite > Misc. Fort Cronkhite > Ft Cronkhite 065

18 / 25   Ft Cronkhite 065

Description
Improvised combat position for one or two troops. It coulda been built for practice/training, but it's also completely plausible it was built out of concern that the Japanese could launch a ground invasion. That's Rodeo Beach in the upper left background, and the Fort Cronkhite water reservoir atop the hill in the upper left corner.

I think you are dead on about the possiblity of a Japanese ground offensive. There are several light arms stations around Ft MacArthur, some facing TOWARDS inland in the case of invasion from the city.
