Someone ripped a hole in it 6 months ago, but it was resealed before I could get in. You can get in now, with a ladder. I've never seen an interior photo.

from the main page: A disastorous fire in January 1956 was the beginning of the end of the German Roman Catholic Orphan Home - a home for more than 15,000 children during its lifetime. Though the orphanage closed, the building was still used for educational purposes, as indicated by items found. The year closed date is a guesstimate.

The year closed date, as an orphanage, is correct. There was an attempt to reopen it in the summer of that year, but it didn't last very long and was closed. Subsequent to being an orphanage, it was a seminary and a public school (both not for very long).

The painted brick tunnel is from the latter era.

Also.. the admin building also housed the nun's residence.

Boffo: The tunnel is the only part left of the original center span and tower.
