This is the front of Gun #2. The pit was filled-in in the 1960s by a company that leased the site from the Army for explosives testing. The rings set into the walls were 'manoevering rings' to assist in moving the gun barrel into place, and the circular overhang (up to about 7' thick) was to protect the gun from an enemy hit.
