  well apparently not..

My dad was telling me he has seen lac des dauphin drained. means they did put land fill there for the floor of the lake.

ive looked at old maps, the "ile ronde" was quite tiny and started right about the ticket booth and ended just before lac des dauphins. the driveway just west of la ronde is fill. Now we have to take into account laronde has a HUGE amount of fill because they had to dredge the mudflats that were there to put crushed rock so much of ile ronde was also dredged up too

I think actually the ticket booth is right next to the bridge... which is some distance away in this picture.

yes, the ticket booth is in the emprise of the expo express. there was a station on top. the jacques cartier pavillion is clearly next to water in the pictures from the 50s in hans van der ahh book "gateway to the world"

There isn't much that was kept from the original Île Ronde cause it was so tiny and small and the level was so close to the water level it wasn't safe enough to build on it.

But that's how they built most of the islands : first create a contour, then fill in and drain. That's why I'm thinking this is 1964. It was at the very beginning of the process.

And yes, one day, I'll manage to get onto the roof of the entrance pavillion to La Ronde as this was an Expo Express station and in my soul, down inside, I sincerely have hope the rails are still there.
