Chevrolets have the distributor in the back of the block. Fords are most usually in the front. Pontiacs and Olds V8's had the distributor in the front on some of their engines. The frame this engine is sitting in looks like a GM frame, the wat the control arms are mounted to it, but the transmission just doesn't stirke me as looking like a hydromatic... eh... i could be wrong.
