is all those round piece is for consilidation of the buillding ??? you know , when they move old house .. they use those kind of piece ... on the interior .. its long metal rod holding the wall !!!

Those round thing are use to hook the floor beams to the brick wall. Those old building are made with "mur de brique porteur" which means that the wall are very thick and they support the beams.

Hook floor beams?! mais il y en a en plein millieu des fenetres. il a des floor beams invisibles?
ce que armyman parle, au vieux mtl, on en voit plein qui supportent les murs, ils sont en forme de S...on les apelles des "esprits dans le mur" petit jeux de mot...=) S-prit dans le mur

yeah a lot of older buildings when the brick started to fail were beefed up with beams or rods and the disks like this were added look at fort lennox

The idea of those things was to reinforce the structure and have it resist gravity (exterior brick walls sometimes take the pressure of the building by curbing to the outside). This and the old "S" supports were made to prevent the exterior walls from curving and therefore affecting badly the structure.

In this pic, if you look closely, you'll see the supports are directly ligned to be in the center of the structural columns of the building (easy to see with the roof line)
