I can see that it is a chalkboard, in an abandonment that probably no one will ever use again. Yeah, maybe it isn't the same as marking the place up with aerosol paints or breaking windows with rocks. It's just, maybe I'm more of a follower of ethics that I learned from Ninjalicious than you are. I pretty much abide by the rule, and I think it's a great one. Just think, if everyone who visited a site changed something, then they ultimately change its history, the state in which it was when it was first abandoned. Yeah to you it's just a some chalk on a chalkboard, but it's more to me. I have a weird respect for these old and forgotten buildings that I guess is hard to understand.

We were actually designing a menu for our exploring group's website. We erased the chalk after we were done, and left it looking just as it had. We photographed it many times while writing on it, and the building was soon demolished. I don't see how we left any traces behind.

it's not the point, T... some people just get their panties in a wad over anything. Personally, i think the chalkboard marking adds a personal touch.

There's a thread relating to ethics on the rook forum, probably locked now, but this photo was my inspiration to start it. You should be happy Tyralus, you started something good. It's good to talk about the state of ethics that exploring is in these days. So thank you. And no, my panties are just fine.

I think if the chalk is just to say you were there, then that's fine. It's not permanent and its kind of a way to say to the next explorer, "I too have respect for this building and love abandoned places. Please explore and listen to its story as I have. And don't forget to get a potty shot."
