The old pier used for dynamite transportation, stretching 900 feet into San Pablo Bay. Locomotives once hauled car loads of dynamite to the end of the pier. Barges were then loaded with 2,000 50 lb. cases by a rolling conveyor system, and company tugboats would pull them into San Francisco Bay where they would then be loaded onto ships headed for the Pacific. 2 million lbs. of dynamite were transported in the Point's history from both this pier and the Southern Pacific rail line throughout the West for use in mining, railroad-building, and road construction.
