2 / 5   They are no more......

Description
These building have since been demolised, cookie-cutter houses now stand on their foundations.....would've been amazing to explore these, especially since they are different structures than any that are still standing on the property today.

Those are beautiful... they'd be worth a fortune to the yuppies that flourish in much of Durham.

that is a wicked web page, you are definately right about it being number 23. That drawn map is awsome.

The map says that the building is the library, too bad its not still there, a library would have been great to explore!

It was a neat building to explore. The building nearest the photo was boarded up in 1988 when I worked there but the other one was just torn down. Its foot print was still visible. Unfortunately, most of the furnishings were removed and the building was dangerously unstable. The second floor sagged in the middle and the third floor tilted slightly. You couldn't see it with the naked eye but you could feel it with your feet. Also, the roof leaked very badly so the framing was rotting badly. The washrooms had real marble for the stall separators and there were a lot of nice fixtures throughout. Great building but it was damn scary once you were inside. And yes, I'm really pissed off at myself for not having a camera with me at the time.

Also, I was told at the time they were the nurses' old residences.
