Where exactly was this? I didn't really look really hard under the south stands because it was sort of sketchy. Ever since I went to take pics 2 sundays ago I have learned a lot more about the place. I have been trying to figure out what the place was like when it was in real use (college football.) Were you ever in ther upper copncourse on the north side? What was that like? Were there bathrooms or concession stands?

well, the place was in much better condition till the late sixties when the liberty bowl took away the college teams in 65. since the eighties, the stands have slowly been taken apart. all the bathrooms and concessions have been out of order since the mid eighties. the upper concourse in the north stands has been slosed since the mid eighties as well.

That upper concourse on the north side: Were the entrances to the upper concourses sealed off from the stands? I know that you couldn't get into the bottom concourse because it seems that they were sealed off from the sides where you could have gotten to them. I went to one of my brothers' games there in the early 90's and I went to one Central game there in about 2001 or 2002 and I wonder why my adventurous side kept me from going to the top concourse. Were those upper deck portals sealed off like the rest of the place? As they were finishing off the North stands I drove by and I could see the front of bathroom entrances with big MEN and WOMEN signs painted on over the entrances. I know I need more of a life and I guess I don't have to explain my wierd intersts on this site but I am thinking of reproducing this stadium in a 3d computer graphics kind of way. That underground lockeroom is way interesting. I know that it is filled with water but I wonder how in the world they (original engineers) thought they could keep out that water?

if you look at the field side entrance/ exit to this, it's covered with several grates and what appears to be pumps and hoses. i guess they didn't think it all the way through. and the north side interior concourse has been gated since the seventies.

Was there something blocking me from walking into the upper portal at the top? Sorry for the stupid questions but I really am tying to make sense out of that building.

yeah, floor to ceiling fences. once they had knocked off half the front of the stands, there was a chain link fence dangling about twenty feet down the rubble that you could climb to get on top.
