isn't there a raft company in Lake Luzerne that does raft trips down the Sacandaga? Hudson River Rafting or something?

Nah, it's not the Hudson, it's the sac, and the company is the Hudson river rafting company. They own this little peninsula

all the rafting company employee's are asses. They must have a radar detector that detects people who step within 2 feet of their stupid tents.

NO doubt; I'd rather float down this bitch on an innertube strapped to a keg of beer.
FYI; the old Bow bridge is open at an absurd cost, and it really doesn't do shit.

yeah, the bow bridge is basically a 5 minute walk from my house, and we could have survived without it, we have for 20 years.

Hey Dukes, I think I went cliff jumping here a year ago. Isn't this Lake Luzerne and not Hadley?

That is where the bridge comes into play; technically it IS Hadley.

The river in the foreground is indeed the Hudson, it converges with the Sacandaga in the backround just beyond the old mill. The "cliffs" we used to jump from were under the H-L Bridge, the Hudson River narrows to about 15' there, very dangerous, lots of drownings here. The land on the left side of the photo (east) is Lake Luzerne, on the right (west) is Hadley. Before the rafting companies moved in, it was common for folks to tube down the Sacandaga, and quite fun. The best rapids were just under the old bow bridge, on the left side of the river heading downstream. If you planned ahead and started early, you could get 2 runs a day from our old starting point on Conklingville Road. I bet everyone who ever tubed it would recall those as great memories! Damn the rafting companies...lol.
