Posted by rapcw 9/13/2006 1:23 AM | remove   It is often rougher, especially along the mountain side, and pretty scary going up and down (no guardrail.) However I saw a little low clearance 2 wheel drive car coming back from the site as we were going up, so I know its possible. High clearance always helps though. Posted by eR1c 9/14/2006 12:28 AM | remove   thanks rapcw, my trip is happening in about 2 weeks. I have a Jeep which is a total guzzler, but have access to a work car that gets great mileage. (I am going to LA and a few other places... so Skidoo, Harrisburg, and Cerro Gordo are on my list of to-do's on my trip). From what I've read it's possible to do in a car ..so I plan on saving the Jeep for another trip. (unless you think this is a really bad idea)!!
