Location DB > United States > California > Death Valley > Queen of Sheba Mine > The Silver Queen > deathvalley 084.jpg

1 / 41   deathvalley 084.jpg

Description
The road to the Queen of Sheba goes nearly straight as an arrow up over some very rough terrain for nearly four miles. At some points we had to get out and move boulders so we could continue up, and we did the same excercise going down at points as well. High clearance is definitely a necessity.

Yes that was our van, which sadly gave up the ghost on the way home from our Death Valley trip. We had to leave it in Mojave where it broke down, the cost would have been too much to repair, and it had unfixable break problems etc already. It ran well for around 30 years though, and had been all over the country. If you want to restore it yourself its probably still in some Mojave junkyard, unless they crushed it.

Ahhh! The Mystery Machine and old haunted mines! Sounds like a job for Scooby and the Gang.

I attempted driving down this same road last fall in my '06 Corolla but turned around about a mile in -- it was just a little too rough, unfortunately. All the other pictures here make the site seem like a must-see one of these days, though!
