24 / 33   Worst damage

Description
This is the most badly damaged part of the pub. It appears that someone broke a window, poured some flammable liquid onto the leather seats, then set the place alight.

Is it just my cynical self, or does the timing seem odd here? They close, they quickly remove all the expensive kitchen equipment (which many places wait months to do, if ever), and then in each of the following two months... have a fire?

A lot of local people think the place was deliberately torched by Lidl in order to get planning permission. I think it's a possibility, but not a certainty.

More usually, a policy of deliberate neglect is followed, so that the building isn't secured particularly well, then it only becomes a matter of time before it gets torched.
