Je me demande pourquoi les silos ont été conservés alors que les édifices autours et de l'autre côté de la rue ont été détruits? Même la compagnie Agmont a construit son usine "autour" des silos.

if you include the Shearer street building up the street and to the left you could say you are looking at at least 10,000 jobs just right there say about in the 50's maybe into the 60's. ANd they were all good paying jobs too! They werent Fart Mart greeters that s for sure!

strange how the Point was always so poor yet there was one of the most intense job booms in the area that the city has ever seen. Imagine when you add it all up?

Poverty and social prpb;e,s has a lot of other origins, your income isn't the only reason. One example, Arvida ( Saguenay,QC) has about 1,500 well paid jobs from Alcan (average 60,000$/year with some experience), for a population of about 5,000 people. So more or less, everyone lives from the Alcan plant and everyone has a good share of the wealth. Yet it is one of the poorer part of Canada. Working in a linear, factory job makes you depressed, you beeing depressed makes you drink, you drinking makes you violent > makes your wife and your kids depressed etc.
The income isn't the only consequence of social issue.

so true --- people often turns to things like booze and gambling that only makes it all worse.
Which is just one reason I was so happy the Casino By The Point project got dumped.
